OWN YOUR VOICE. TELL YOUR STORY.

Calling all yoga teachers, entrepreneurs, and soul-searching yogis: Let’s retreat to figure out what it is that turns you on, lights you up, and makes you unique.

In today’s world of social media, running a business can be especially challenging—and frustrating. You’ve probably asked yourself, What should I do so I’m not lost in the crowd of voices and staged Instagram photos? How can I authentically stand out from the competition? Is it possible to create a thriving business without selling out?

Here’s a little secret: All of the answers to these questions and more will start to come once you cultivate a clear vision of who you are, why you’re here, and what you have to offer. In the business world, this is at the heart of branding. In the yoga world, we get to look at the central question the practice we love so much is designed to answer—Who am I?—and apply the subtle layers of the answers to our lives and livelihoods.

There’s no better teacher than Annie Carpenter, founder of SmartFlow Yoga and a true yoga legend and entrepreneur, to help you nurture that vision of who you are so you can strengthen your brand from a grounded, authentic place. And there’s no better writer, editor, and storyteller—Meghan Rabbitt, former editor at Yoga Journal—to help you translate what you uncover and put it into action. Annie will lead daily asana classes that’ll prompt you to hold the inquiries necessary for true breakthroughs. Then, Meghan will help you demystify the art of telling your story and creating a unique brand that people will be drawn to follow. Even better, all of this self-inquiry, storytelling, and brand-building will happen in a setting that will leave you feeling rejuvenated and inspired.

In addition to the on-site workshops and coaching, you’ll have the opportunity to receive a 1-hour post-retreat business coaching session with Erika Craciun, CEO + Founder of Blissed Yoga Retreats. All guests receive a coaching session for FREE with Erika. Erika has her MBA from USC and has worked on some of the top brands in the country, including Fiji Water, Wonderful Pistachios, Manduka and Nestle.  During the call, we will discuss how to turn “Your Story” into an ACTION PLAN to GROW YOUR FOLLOWING and TRANSFORM YOUR CAREER!

This retreat is an investment in your yoga career—as well as an opportunity to relax and feel authentically connected to your yoga practice and other teachers in the community. If you have ever felt frustrated with the “business” side of your career, this retreat will help you find more confidence and ease. We will help you create a customized action plan, differentiate your story, create engaging content, increase your following, get more publicity, grow your business, and get the support and motivation required to continue to do the work on your personal journey. Come as you are! Whether you are a new teacher or entrepreneur in the wellness space or a yoga veteran wanting to take your business to new heights, we will all benefit from this time to clarify our intentions around what we want to create in this world!

Your story is what you have, what you will always have. It is something to own.

– Michelle Obama

Retreat + Training Benefits

What we are Hearing from Yoga Teachers:

Standing Out from the Crowd and Authentically Promoting Yourself (aka telling your story) is Challenging!

I am working on finding my voice and knowing what kind of teacher I am.

I get frustrated with Instagram and that you now need a “brand” in order to be seen. Education and lineage doesn’t seem to matter as much as it used to.

I am not sure how to market myself. It can be vulnerable to put yourself out there and more importantly how to do it authentically!

I  believe I am a good teacher with potential to be even better as I learn BUT who am I compared to them. What makes me special and stand out?! There are so. many. yoga teachers. and retreats. Why should people follow ME?!

How can I gain a following in a way that is true to me and doesn’t intimidate me or my followers?

Self promotion can be draining. How do I staying enthusiastic?

Yoga seems to have become so generic. How do I stand out?

I want more time to focus on the yoga, but self promotion is taking up so much of my time and energy.

OWN Y OUR VOICE Workshops with

OWN YOUR VOICE Workshop #1: BE YOU

How To Identify Your Story—and Communicate the Message

Not sure where to start when it comes to figuring out whose attention you want to grab, what your authentic style is, and what stories you should tell to express all of that to a growing audience? This workshop will help you figure out what to focus on. You’ll create a game plan for naming your goals, pinpointing your unique voice, and writing your story. This session will be loaded with pro tips that’ll make the process feel fun, and you’ll learn insider secrets that’ll help you get into the flow—no staring at a blank page for hours.

OWN YOUR VOICE Workshop #2: BE BRAVE

Why Being Vulnerable Is Everything—and How to Do It Well

Ever wonder if your message is something others will find interesting and compelling? What if we told you the secret lies in how you tell your story? When you’re authentic, honest, and vulnerable—and express this in a way that sounds polished and professional, not like you’re unloading on your therapist —you’ll pull at people’s heartstrings and engage them in an entirely new way. This session will give you important pointers to keep in mind as you continue to develop your brand and start writing from your soul.

What makes this session unique is that we will be doing after a ziplining adventure! Being brave means trusting others, overcoming your fears, and doing things out of your comfort zone!

OWN YOUR VOICE Workshop #3: BE SOCIAL

From Clicky Headlines to Catchy Instagram Posts: The Art of Social Media

Let’s be honest: If you want people to absorb (and share!) what you’re putting out into the world, you need an eager and engaged audience. Book publishers look for big followings on social media before agreeing to work with you. Editors are way more likely to accept your pitches if they include headlines their readers will click on. Learning how to write well for social media is actually a craft that’ll serve you well when it comes to all of what you write. We’ll go over the key points that’ll help you on Instagram and beyond. You don’t have to have a huge production budget to be successful on social media! We will also talk about DIY vs. professional content, and when to invest vs. when to stick to your budget.

** BONUS ** EVERYONE gets time with a professional photographer!

Images can speak louder than words. To help inspire you as you grow your content library, we are giving every retreat guest ~10 minutes with a professional photographer to capture a few key images for your website and/or social media account. Through styling, proper lighting, and professional execution we will talk about the importance of investing in beautiful imagery to propel your business to the next level.

OWN YOUR VOICE Workshop #4: BE OPEN

How to Edit Yourself (a.k.a. How to Not Fall In Love With Your Own Ideas)

How can you tell if something you put out there is pure genius—or still needs some work? How do branding experts come up with ideas and then fix what’s not working, without ditching the whole thing? It can be really difficult to stay open to what others have to say about your brand and what you create—whether it’s writing, vlogs, or social media posts—especially if you’ve really put yourself out there. In fact, it can be even more difficult to get to a place where you’re able to assess your own brand and critique (and edit) yourself. But it is possible. We’ll show you how.

OWN YOUR VOICE Workshop #5: BE SUCCESSFUL

Hatching a Plan to Be Heard

Once you’ve landed on a clear vision of who you are and what you can uniquely offer your audience, it’s time to start figuring out how you’ll find your people. On this retreat, you’ve got access to a professional writer and editor who will give you individualized advice on how to go about attracting more visitors to your website, eyes on your social media pages, viewers of your videos, and readers of your blog. Whether your goal is to pitch an article to Elephant Journal, send a book chapter to an agent, or launch a blog or e-newsletter, we’ll help you craft a plan for publication. And, if you have no interest in publishing your work, we’ll talk about how to make writing a bigger part of your daily spiritual practice.

We will celebrate our work and our successful mindset by taking a Sunset Dinner Yacht Cruise!

OWN YOUR VOICE Workshop #6: BE BLISS

Get In The Flow

Here’s the honest truth: All of this—figuring out who you are, finding your voice, and putting yourself out there—takes effort. It’s hard work, and it doesn’t always feel fun. (Until the end, when you’ve got a killer website and Instagram page or see your byline in Yoga Journal and say, “Hey, that’s pretty damn good!” That’s fun.) But there are tactics to help you deal with the highs and lows, and get into a groove that feels inspired, creative, and even enjoyable. These are the tips you can turn to again and again to help you get un-stuck and find your flow.
